The unstoppable Tide wins title
On June 6, Alabama played the final game of the series against Oklahoma. The rain delay offset the start of the game as it lasted for three hours. It was also another rain delay later in the game. Jackie Traina was on the mound for the Tide as they went on the quest for a championship. She got off to a slow start when three runs were allowed in the first three innings. Alabama came on strong in the 4th inning as Kaila Hunt, Amanda Locke, and Kendall Dawson all contributed to scores in the 4th, which put Alabama in the lead 4-3. Traina added insurance to their policy when she hit a line drive into right field to score Henton. Oklahoma hit a home run the sixth to pull within one but Traina retired the side winning Alabama’s first National Title 5-4. Jackie Traina was named WCWS Most Outstanding player as she ended the season with a record of 42-3. Kayla Braud, Fenton, Locke and Traina all earned WCWS All-Tournament team honors. Congratulations to Alabama Crimson Tide Softball. RTR!!
