A bill was signed on Wednesday requiring that protest stay at least 1,000 feet away from funeral site, which is equal too two blocks. Legislators passed bill during the session this year.
The bill was triggered by the demonstration by Westboro Baptist Church, which included a protest outside a funeral. Church members claimed that “God kills Americans because the nation tolerates homosexuality.” Other protest includes slain Auburn student and school bus crash in Huntsville.
House speaker Mike Hubbard says that it is sad that such a law is needed to prevent these behaviors.
