Children's of Alabama is marking what it describes as the state's largest medical expansion ever.
Leaders including Gov. Robert Bentley will be on hand Tuesday afternoon for the dedication of the new Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children in Birmingham. The 12-story downtown building has more than 750,000 square feet of floor space.
The building is meant to accommodate additional patients and a consolidation of services at Children's of Alabama.
The expansion makes the facility the third-largest hospital for children in the country.
