The Birmingham Police officer charged with setting fires in Warrior wants his bail reduced. Wednesday, 27 year old Curtis Thornton made his first court appearance. He's charged with two counts of arson, attempted arson and criminal mischief. The officer is accused of starting several house fires on Dana Road where he lives earlier this month. Right now, Thornton is being held on a 315 thousand dollar bond. But his attorney is asking for that to be reduced to 100 thousand due to the financial hardship on his family. He says his client will agree to wearing an ankle monitoring device. Thornton joined the Birmingham Police Department in 2009. He's currently on paid administrative leave.
