A 19-year-old man from Gadsden has been arrested for stealing copper from the air-conditioning units at a church and fire department. Delandis Dojuan Taylor was booked Monday, May 7 and charged with three counts of first degree theft of property and one count of attempted theft of property, investigator Chad Langdale said. Taylor is accused of stealing copper and aluminum wiring from air conditioning units at both the New Faith Community Church on Whites Chapel Road and the Tidmore Bend Volunteer Department. The Etowah County Sheriff's Office says the thefts happened over a three-week period. Taylor is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $80,000 cash bond. The sheriff's office says Taylor was out on bond for similar theft incidents.
