Governor Bentley is praising the state Legislature for passing a bill that will help teachers pay for supplies they need in the classroom. Under the new bill, teachers would get $300 per year for classroom supplies. Bentley says, "This legislation will help us show our appreciation for the hard work and dedication of school teachers across this state, and I look forward to signing this bill." The governor added that the bill will help teachers have the tools they need, which will provide a benefit to education for students across the state. Some teachers had been using their own money to buy supplies they needed on the job. Parents had also pitched in for many items.
No word yet on when Bentley will sign the bill.
