CHILDERSBURG, AL - Childerburg Police are investigating a barber shop brawl that led to gunshots.
Around 11:30 Friday morning police say three people were shot at City Cuts and Fashion on Highway 280 in Childersburg. Teritia Kirkland's nephew works at the barber shop and says he was cutting someone's hair when bullets started flying. "There were 2 individuals that had previous beef with each other," said Kirkland, "They were sitting down. He was cutting one of the young men's hair and the guys began to open fire." Kirkland says they shot each other and at least one bullet hit her nephew. He was airlifted to UAB along with another guy. An ambulance took the third person to Coosa Valley Medical Center. "One individual had a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen and lower part of his leg. The other, the very lower part of his leg. And one to the arm," said Police Chief Shane Burnette. Burnette believes the shooters were injured in the shooting so they're still trying to piece together exactly what happened. Jennice Brown gets her hair done at City Cuts and Fashion. She's concerned about the violence. "It's a hurting feeling because they could have solved it without guns," said Brown. "We want to let the young people know and the old people know don't try to seek no revenge. Just find out the whole story. Let the law handle the situation and pray for those that was wounded and pray for those that did the shooting," said Kirkland. Police are still gathering information and interviewing witnesses so they say it could be a few days before an arrest is made.
