This Saturday's celebration of the University of Alabama gymnastics team's 2012 NCAA Championship will include an appearance by head football coach Nick Saban, whose team enjoyed a celebration of their own in January. Saban is slated to be a part of the event which will start at 6 p.m. in Coleman Coliseum. The celebration, featuring the back-to-back national champion gymnastics team and head coach Sarah Patterson, will last approximately one hour and admission is free. Doors open at 5 p.m. and 5000 commemorative posters will be given away during the event. The concessions stands in the Coliseum will be open and officially licensed NCAA Championship products, apparel and more will be available for purchase on the concourse of the Coliseum. The Crimson Tide won its sixth national gymnastics championship last Saturday with a score of 197.850. A total of eight UA gymnasts earned 16 All-American honors during the weekend, including seniors Geralen Stack-Eaton and Ashley Priess, juniors Marissa Gutierrez and Ashley Sledge, sophomores Kim Jacob, Diandra Milliner and Sarah DeMeo along with freshman Kayla Williams. Priess, whose 9.95 on the balance beam clinched the Tide's win over the second-place Florida Gators, announced earlier this week that she will return to the UA lineup as a redshirt senior in 2013. In addition to the 2012 and 2011 national championships, Alabama has won NCAA Gymnastics titles in 2002, 1996, 1991 and 1988. Additional information about the celebration will be posted on www.RollTide.com.
