A water pressure system on McClellan Boulevard sprang a leak Thursday afternoon, temporarily drenching a side street off Highway 21 north of the old Marvin's store.
The side street affected was East 53rd Street.
Rod Hendrick, a service technician with the Anniston Water Works, said a valve came loose in a backflow water system that provides drinking water to the Fox Valley Apartments. A police officer noticed the water shooting from the ground and blocked off the area around 4:30 p.m. Thursday until Hendrick could tighten the valve.
Hendrick said the disruption shouldn’t affect the water flow to the apartments.
