A body found earlier this week inside a car submerged in a quarry has been identitfied as Carrie Elaine Gentry.
Saturday, the Jefferson County Coroner's Office confirmed the identity. Gentry's body was found inside her 2002 Lexus RX300 when it was recovered from the Shale Road Quarry in Leeds earlier this week.
Sheriff's detectives discovered Gentry's vehicle on April 11th but the Coroner's office was unable to immediately identify the body for days because dental records were needed for the ID and no dental experts were available.
Gentry was reported missing last month. The 64 year old was from Chelsea and led a ministry in the area.
The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is now investigating the case as a homicide.
