Cleaning crews found a decomposing body inside a trailer in the 9400 block of Sanders Ferry Road in Tuscaloosa County. The workers were cleaning the trailer Thursday morning so it could be moved. Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Captain Loyd Baker says at first the cleaners didn't know it was a body. "The trailer was in bad disarray," said Baker, "They didn't know it was a body until they saw a hand sticking out." Baker says evidence at the scene leads them to believe the person was murdered, but it didn't happen inside the trailer. "We believe she was taken there to dispose a body," said Baker. There is more information Baker can't release right now because it might hinder the investigation, but Baker did say he believes the victim is a black woman from Tuscaloosa who went missing about a month ago. "We're going through missing person cases from 5-6 weeks ago because we don't believe this body was in that trailer more than a few weeks," said Baker. Just a few blocks from the trailer Wynona and Roy Crowder say neighbors are all a buzz. "That's a real cause for concern not having any idea what might have happened," said Wynona Crowder. The Crowders say police have gone door to door asking if anyone saw anything suspicious two months ago. Despite a body being found close from their home, the Crowders say they still feel pretty safe. "It's not any different feeling right here than if I were somewhere else because somebody evidently brought it from another point to the empty trailer," said Roy Crowder.
