MONTGOMERY - AL - There's a big disagreement in the state GOP over how to pay for badly needed road and bridge work. The Republican-led Senate has approved a bill that could provide more than $600 million for the work. It would raise the money through selling bonds. Governor Bentley, who is Republican, says he doesn't approve of the GOP-backed plan. He says he's already working on a plan to pay for road and bridge work, and he says his plan doesn't require any legislative action. The road work funding bill now goes to the House for debate.
