Ken Elkins, a former chief photographer for The Anniston Star, has died. The 76-year-old Elkins died Thursday. He had several severe health problems and was in a long-term care facility. The Marshall County native worked for more than 40 years as a photojournalist. He spent most of his career with the east Alabama newspaper before retiring in 2000. In 2005, Elkins published "Picture-Taker," a collection of 100 of his images. He later won a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Alabama Press Association.
