A Gadsden man has been charged with sexual abuse of two victims. Brian Scott Lipscomb, 38, is in custody of the Etowah County Detention Center after being charged with two counts of sexual abuse. Both victims were under 12 years old and were related to Lipscomb by marriage. The victims were each abused more than once, according to a release from Gadsden police. One of the victims told a friend about the abuse and the friend in turn reported it to a teacher. The teacher reported the abuse to authorities, which kicked off the investigation, according to Captain Regina May with the Gadsden PD. Two warrants of sex abuse were obtained against Lipscomb in January 2012 as a result of the investigation, led by juvenile detective Mark Thomas. When police officers initially tried to make contact with Lipscomb and serve him the warrants, he fled to a wooded area near the 700 block of Chadwick Drive. After officers captured Lipscomb, an additional charge of resisting arrest was added.
Each of the charges of first degree sexual abuse carries a bond of $50,000. The resisting arrest charge has a bond of $1,000.
