The search continues Friday morning for a student who disappeared Thursday night during a cruise on the Black Warrior River.
Authorities were called around 10 p.m. when the student was discovered missing as the Bama Belle returned to dock. It had been out on a river cruise hosting a formal for the Delta Sigma Theta sorority.
Crews searched by boat, ground, and air for three hours looking for the student. Authorities then called off the search until sunrise Friday, when divers resumed searching the water. They said the water is deep and the current is strong.
Students were very emotional Thursday night, some upset the search was suspended overnight. Authorities said after three hours of searching, there was nothing else they could do until sunrise Friday.
The name of the missing student was not released.
