"I won't even let my dog drink it."
That's how one Pell City homeowner today described dirty drinking water that has been plaguing parts of that city since December. Dozens of frustrated neighbors showed up to the Pell City senior center this afternoon to express frustration with the pace of the city's efforts to clean up the water. City officials say the problem started in December when the city tied into the Coosa Valley water system, the water flow reversed direction, stirring up sediment in the pipes. Homeowners were told in December it should clear up in two to four weeks but samples produced today show that hasn't happened and neighbors are fed up. "Ya'll live in our inconvenience for a week, a day," said one homeowner. "It's....I know all ya'll wish you could change places with any of us. But it's a total inconvenience for all of us." Pell City's mayor Bill Hereford today said this is the city engineer's top priority and they are working on it. He also said a more permanent solution may involve replacing some of the oldest and dirtiest pipes.
