A suspect is in custody of the Etowah County Jail pending charges in a domestic violence incident. Gadsden police responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Monte Vista Drive on Friday, March 23 around 7:30 p.m. after hearing of a domestic violence incident involving firearms. "The victim was able to escape the residence and call for help from a neighbor's home after at least one shot had been fired in the victim's home," Captain Regina May with Gadsden police said. The suspect in the incident stayed inside the home after police arrived to the residence. A crisis negotiator with the Gadsden Police Department spoke with the suspect through a cell phone and convinced the suspect to surrender peacefully. The suspect's name has not yet been released.
