A former X-ray technician for Children's Hospital of Alabama has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for possessing child pornography. David Scott Burton, a 39-year-old man from Bessemer, was sentenced today to five years and 10 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Abdul Kallon. He has also been ordered to remain on supervised release for the rest of his life. Burton was arrested in September after police discovered pornography depicting children younger than 12 engaged in sexually explicit conduct on his home computer. The Alabama Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began investigating Burton after a computer traced to his residence was found to be distributing child porn in a peer-to-peer file sharing program, according to court documents. Burton had worked for Children's Hospital for eight years and was fired after his case came to light, said U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance. Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in investigating Burton, including the Hoover and Vestavia Hills police departments, ABI, ICE and the Alabama District Attorney's Association.
