Last April's massive tornadoes that wreaked havoc across Alabama, will be on the minds of members of the Alabama House.
The House is scheduled Tuesday to take up a bill that will make the act of looting a crime in Alabama. The bill is sponsored by Rep. John Merrill, a Republican from Tuscaloosa, which was hit hard by the storms and experienced some looting afterwards.
The bill makes looting a felony crime if it occurs after a state of emergency has been declared in an area.
Looting is described as entering a building or residence without authorization and damaging or removing property of another person without lawful authority.
