A hearing is set for next Wednesday for the grandmother and stepmother facing murder charges in the death of a nine-year-old Etowah County girl.
Joyce Garrard and Jessica Hardin face an arraignment hearing for Savannah Hardin's death.
Prosecutors say Savannah was killed by the severe punishment of being forced to run for three hours, while carrying logs in her arms.
Defense lawyers say both women are innocent and expect to be vindicated in Savannah's death last month.
