On Thursday, September 18, 2014, there will be two events recognizing the Anniston, Alabama, City of Storytellers Video Competition winners. Awards for the Student Division winners will be given at 2:15 PM; the Adult Division winner's awards will be presented at 5:30. Both events will be held at the Performing Arts Center at Anniston High School.
Mayor Vaughn Stewart and Anniston City Schools Superintendent Darren Doutthit will speak at each event. Winners of the juried and popular vote competitions will be recognized by members of the Anniston City Council, who will participate in this year's event.
The City of Storytellers Video Competition was designed to help improve the image of the City of Anniston on the Web. Most people who are evaluating Anniston as a place to work, invest, and shop do so by conducting searches using major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing, and visiting video sites such as YouTube.com. The competition was also intended to support efforts to attract film and video projects into our area.
The competition was organized and managed by buyersUSA Consulting, which is operated by Tim Brunson, PhD, and Annie Brunson. Annie is also the founder of Yellowhammer Filmmakers of Northeast Alabama, a local independent film organization.
