The popular voting for Anniston’s City of Storytellers Video Competition is currently underway. Voting is taking place online on the City of Storytellers website. Voting will run through June 30, 2014.
In addition to the $2,000 in prize money for which video submitters are competing in the popular voting, voters can also compete for hundreds of dollars in gift certificates. Presently, this includes $150 from Nunnally’s Framing, $50 from Think Toys, and $50 from CD Cellars.
These two aspects of the event are in addition to $2,000, which will be awarded as a result of judged voting that will take place simultaneously. All submitted videos are being evaluated as to their creativity and contribution to the image of the City of Anniston.
This competition is predominantly being funded by the City of Anniston. Partners and other sponsors have contributed considerably in regards to publicity and other resources. The principal partners are the City of Anniston, WDNG Media, TV24, The Anniston Star, the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, and buyersUSA Consulting. buyersUSA Consulting, which also operates InfignosMedia.com, serves as the project’s coordinator. Dr. Tim Brunson, the firm’s managing partner, originated the City of Storytellers Project as a way of helping improve the image of the city as well as improve the level of understanding within Anniston.
The project will continue beyond the awarding of prizes for the current competition. The next endeavor will most likely be a monologue competition starting in late summer with the submission cut off in mid-January 2015. Other City of Storyteller events are also being considered.
