(WDNG) - The state’s top election official says voters need to check for any changes made to their legislative districts that go into effect for this year’s statewide elections. Secretary of State Jim Bennett on Monday said changes from the 2012 redistricting process go into effect for this year’s election cycle.
Bennett says the legislative district some voters were in last cycle may not be the same district they vote in on June 3. Alabama voters can check their district by visiting the official state election website at alabamavotes.gov or by calling their local Board of Registrars office.
Bennett says the website allows users to submit their information to see which district they will see on their ballot for the primary elections. “There very well may be changes that a voter will see when they go to the polls in June so we encourage voters to check so there is no confusion when they read their ballot,” Bennett said.
Calhoun County voters without internet access can call the Board of Registrars at 256-241-2930 or visit their offices in the Ken Joiner Administration Building located at 1702 Noble Street in downtown Anniston.
