One area courthouse will shut down for some time Friday to train officers how to respond to a mass shooting threat. The Associated Press reports the Etowah County Judicial Building in Gadsden will be closed for 90 minutes on Friday morning.
Law enforcement officials will reportedly simulate an event of an armed person shooting inside the building to teach officers how to react. According to the AP, Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin’s office says the drill is part of a continuing response training program that’s been going on over the last year.
A similar drill is expected to be conducted at a southeast Alabama nuclear power plant next week in coordination with federal, state and local emergency officials.
