A federal jury in Alabama's gambling corruption trial has acquitted casino owner Milton McGregor, former state Sen. Jim Preuitt and four other defendants on all counts.
The jury returned its verdict this morning in Montgomery after seven days of deliberations.
McGregor was accused of offering large campaign contributions to legislators for their votes for gambling legislation. Preuitt, of Talladega, state Sen. Harri Anne Smith and former Sen. Larry Means were accused of agreeing to accept bribes in return for their votes.
The jury found McGregor and the others innocent of counts including conspiracy and bribery
