UAB hit three home runs in the Blazers' 8-1 win at Louisiana Tech on Friday.
UAB had hit just three coming into the game. Jeff Schalk hit his third blast of the season on Friday. Mitch Williams and Evan Peterson each hit their first home runs.
This came after UAB struggled offensively for most of the last two weeks.
"We told our kids that the next game is the one you might break out of it and why not," head coach Brian Shoop said in a release. "It is only one game, but it is very encouraging. That was great to see. You have to play both sides of the ball to win."
Schalk went 3-for-4 with a 2-run home run and three RBIs.
Chase Mallard improved to 6-0, giving up just one earned run in seven innings with five strikeouts. His 10th quality start in a row leads the nation.
UAB improved to 20-10, 7-3 in Conference USA play. Louisiana Tech is now 9-19, 3-10.
The teams play a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
