Cheaha State Park, located at the state's highest point, is ready again for business.
A few weeks ago, an ice storm left widespread damage at Cheaha State Park, atop Mt. Cheaha.
The park was temporarily closed for safety reasons while crews frantically worked to clean up fallen trees and power lines.
Volunteers helped with chain saws and many of the fallen trees have been cut up into firewood that the guests are invited to use. Just a few weeks later, the park has reopened.
Park officials say even those there's still a mess, and one campground is closed, most of the park is open and the public is allowed inside again.
Alabama's oldest state park lost a lot of trees during the ice storm. But Friday they gained a few when volunteers from the U.S. Park Service planted hundreds of seedlings that were left over from Arbor Day.
