Pamela's Place topic and guest for hour two Friday 3/7/14.
How Many Generations Will Your Memory Live On?
Each of us must, someday, pass away, and sooner or later, our legacy will be forgotten with the deaths of those who knew us. But your memory and values could survive much, much longer, say wealth impact strategists and personal legacy advisors Greg Hammond and Ron Ware .
“The United States is renowned for that sector of society that has done so well for themselves, their businesses and their families; but how many will be remembered beyond those who actually knew them?” asks Ron Ware, who cofounded the Do More That Matters Foundation Fund with Greg Hammond.
“We are part of a sleeping giant in this country – and that giant is our excess financial capacity. Once people discover that they truly have more than they need to support their family, we’re asking these folks a basic question: At the end of your life, and years later, what matters more – consolidating more money for future generations who likely won’t fully appreciate what they inherit, or creating a legacy, branded by the family name and values, that will continue to benefit those who are less fortunate for many generations to come?
“Many are choosing the latter,” says Hammond, who coauthored with Ware “You Can Do More that Matters.
Hammond and Ware say that those who choose to create a legacy that leaves the world a better place are truly happy when they realize that they do have enough wealth to sustain their lifestyle and to effect positive changes that endure long after they’re gone.
