(WDNG) - The final public meeting of the One City One Vision strategic planning initiative is in the books after nearly a year of public workshops and open houses.
The Anniston Star reports more than 100 people were in attendance at the Anniston City Meeting Center on Thursday to wrap up the planning stages of the One City One Vision campaign.
The Anniston City Council last year launched a six-month listening tour across the city’s four wards, where community members could voice their opinions on a wide variety of topics pertaining to the future of life in the Model City. Workshops were then held and the council appointed community-led task forces to develop strategies for addressing key issues.
Strategic planning steering committee members Ellen Bass and Andy Hatley told WDNG on Wednesday that the list of issues was narrowed to eight key topics, ranging from education to arts and culture. Each key topic has a respective list of possible actions that can be taken by city officials, business leaders and residents.
Anniston Mayor Vaughn Stewart tells The Star that smaller groups of residents will now be called upon to develop strategies on how some of the listed actions can be achieved.
