(WDNG) - After a warm, sunny weekend in Calhoun County, weather forecasters expect another round of cold weather and possible ice by midweek.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham says rain chances in central Alabama will increase by Wednesday morning. While much of that rain is expected to stay south of I-20, north Alabama counties may see a slight chance of a wintry mix falling by sunrise Wednesday.
High temperatures on Wednesday are forecast to be in the mid 30s, but lows will drop into the 20s for much of central Alabama into Wednesday night and Thursday morning. The National Weather Service says meteorologists will monitor for the potential of a hard freeze warning Thursday morning if temperatures drop below 15 degrees.
While there is a slight possibility for winter weather, the weather service says warm temperatures already in place and very light precipitation in the forecast, little or no snow or sleet accumulation is expected at this time.
