(WDNG) - At least four tornadoes touched in down in north Alabama last week, including an EF-2 tornado near Fort Payne.
The National Weather Service in Huntsville estimates winds were up to 125 mph when a brief twister ripped through DeKalb County late Thursday night, flipping semitrailers and snapping trees.
Another EF-1 tornado touched down near the Tennessee River in Limestone County and damaged nearby condos. Two other tornadoes uprooted trees and damaged homes in small Lauderdale County communities.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham reported minor damage in Ohatchee along AL 77 when storms moved through early Friday morning. Snapped power poles and damage to a post office and gas station were also reported in northwest Calhoun County.
