(WDNG) - An illegal moonshine still authorities say could produce more than 100 gallons per week of booze is shut down by state officials.
The Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control on Thursday said the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office was tipped off about the illegal moonshine production near Elba in December 2013.
An investigation was launched and officers from both agencies say they found 18 55-gallon barrels and a still that was capable of producing about 130 gallons of moonshine per week.
Authorities say a handgun reported stolen out of Montgomery was also recovered during their investigation. According to this week’s statement, a person of interest has is being questioned in the case.
