A woman was killed Thursday after being hit by a vehicle while standing outside her disabled vehicle on Interstate 65 North in Chilton County.
The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. near mile marker 223 and forced Alabama State Troopers to temporarily shut down all but one lane of the interstate, bringing traffic to a slow crawl. Authorities reopened all lanes of travel around 8 p.m.
Details regarding the cause of the accident and the woman's identity weren't immediately made available.
An investigation remains ongoing.
