Anniston-based WDNG.net, which is jointly operated by WDNG, Inc, and buyersUSA Consulting, is the only radio station on the list.
Two of the top 20 are based in Anniston. This includes third-ranked AnnistonStar.com, the site owned and operated by Consolidated Publishing, which includes The Anniston Star, The Daily Home (Talladega), The Cleburne News, The Jacksonville News and others). 14th ranked WDNG.net is the top ranked radio station website in Alabama. TV24.tv, which is operated by WEAC TV-24 in Oxford, is currently number 23, and rated number eight among Alabama TV station websites.
This analysis was performed by buyersUSA Consulting using today’s Alexa.com data. It excludes non-commercial media websites and other websites, such as blogs, which are not affiliated with TV stations, radio stations, or newspapers. Among the excluded sites are those related to public TV and radio, religious TV and radio, and university-affiliated.
Alexa.com, an Amazon company, is considered by most media analysts, companies, and agencies as the authority for website traffic ranking. They obtain data from a number of sources. An Alexa traffic rank is an international 90-day daily moving average, which smoothes out any unusual spikes and dips in daily traffic. The lower the Alexa ranking, the higher the site’s traffic. Google.com, which is currently the most popular site in the world, has an Alexa ranking of one. Based on the number currently indexed by Google, Bing, and Yahoo, currently there are over 4 billion websites worldwide.
