This is the most recent update from the EMA. Please take note that the cold front is moving faster than expected. The anticipated freezing and snow changeover has now been moved up:
The cold air is moving southwest more quickly than anticipated. NWS expects a transition to snow somewhere around noon to 3 pm, but that could occur earlier.
We are still expecting 2-4” of snowfall. The heaviest snow should be from noon to 9 pm, after which it should start to taper off.
We could still see some wintry mix, sleet, and freezing rain, which will probably be less than the forecast amounts of 1/10th to 2/10th of an inch. The best window for this to occur is between now and 9 am.
Things are looking rough in Georgia – there is large band of freezing rain running northeast from Carrollton, so we are only talking about a buffer of 30-40 miles. Keep an eye on the situation this morning for any changes.
