(WDNG) - A lawsuit filed against the Cleburne County Commission alleges that county’s EMA director harassed and threatened employees. The lawsuit filed in federal court in December seeks back pay and punitive damages for Cleburne County E911 Director Melinda Gonzalez.
According to court records, Gonzalez accuses Cleburne County Emergency Management Director Steve Swafford of directing sexually-charged comments at some female employees. More than 40 pages of court documents also allege county officials did not address complaints filed by employees. One employee reportedly resigned after being asked to sign a statement denying the allegations by the plaintiff.
Incidents in the lawsuit date back to 2008 and include a complaint filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in May 2013. EEOC investigators closed their case in October saying that a 10-page statement by the plaintiff did not establish violations of statutes.
Attempts to reach attorneys on both sides of the lawsuit on Tuesday have been unsuccessful.
