The Alabama Department of Public Safety and the Alabama Department of Transportation are urging drivers to stay off the roads during the approaching winter storm forecasted to reach Alabama on Tuesday.
ALDOT says personnel are monitoring road conditions and areas where they may be need to respond to icy bridges.
Drivers are encouraged to use extra caution and to remain on high alert for emergency personnel and work zones if traveling becomes necessary.
During inclement weather, ALDOT says it’s important to remember to keep a safe distance between your vehicle and other vehicles. Additionally, motorists are advised to turn on headlights and windshield wipers.
ALDOT recommends keeping blankets, a first-aid kid, a charged cell phone and other supplies in your vehicle.
