(WDNG) - Police are investigating two separate cases in which two women said they were kidnapped for a time.
An 18-year-old Jacksonville woman called police on Friday saying her ex-boyfriend kidnapped her from downtown Anniston and punched her in the face. Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks says the woman told authorities that the suspect threatened her and told her to get into his car around 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
The man allegedly drove a short distance before the two got into an argument and he punched her in the face. Sparks said the woman was somehow able to take the vehicle and return to downtown, leaving the man behind.
According to Sparks, the woman did not need medical attention. The ex-boyfriend has been indentified and police reports indicate he may face felony second-degree kidnapping and misdemeanor third-degree domestic violence charges.
Later on Friday, a 48-year-old Anniston woman was allegedly taken at knifepoint from a home on the 300 block of Elm Street. Sparks said a male suspect forced the woman into a vehicle and left the residence for a short amount of time around 8 p.m. on Friday.
The suspect reportedly returned to the residence and dropped off the woman. According to Sparks, the woman suffered some abrasions but did not require medical attention. A family member of the woman reportedly witnessed the incident and called police.
Sparks said there were no signs of forced entry into the home and a police investigation has identified a suspect. According to police reports, the suspect faces felony first-degree kidnapping charges.
