A 35-year-old white male jumped from a bridge near McCaig’s Motel in Talladega and plummeted approximately 40 feet to the train tracks below at approximately 12:44 p.m. Friday.
Talladega Police Capt. John McCoy said the name of the individual is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
Officers arrived at the scene at 12:45 p.m. and attempted to administer CPR to the individual before having him transported to Citizens Baptist Medical Center. From there, he was transported to University Hospital in Birmingham via helicopter.
“He was not in good condition when he was transported from the scene to CBMC,” McCoy said. “I left the Emergency Room before he was flown to UAB.”
The condition of the man was not known Friday night.
McCoy said police are still investigating the cause or reason for the jump, but they’ve ruled the case as a suicide attempt with no suspicion of foul play.
