Police in Jacksonville are on the lookout for a truck that a witness says struck an 11-year-old girl on Monday. The Anniston Star reports 11-year-old Mekenzie Frian was not seriously injured in the accident that occurred on the Jacksonville Square after the city’s Christmas lighting ceremony on Monday.
The girl’s grandmother tells the newspaper that Mekenzie was crossing the street when the truck struck the girl. Her mother reportedly tried to push Mekenzie out of the way, and her grandmother tells The Star “Mekenzie was somewhat airborne when the truck hit the lower part of her body and the truck just kept on going.”
According to The Star, police are searching for the driver of the white, four-door truck. Anyone with information about the incident can contact the Jacksonville Police Department at (256) 435-6448.
