A shooting at an Iron Bowl party in Hoover on Saturday has left one woman dead. WBRC-TV reports 36-year-old Michelle Shepard of Birmingham was pronounced dead on the scene at the Summerchase at Riverchase apartments in Hoover around 7 p.m. on Saturday.
According to the television station, Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis says Shepard and another woman got into an argument shortly after the Alabama/Auburn game ended. There were reportedly multiple witnesses to the shooting and one woman was taken into police custody but has not been charged.
Police tell WBRC-TV that the women didn’t know each other and they have not confirmed what started Saturday’s fight. Residents at the Hoover apartment complex tell AL.com that there are frequent parties where the shooting happened. Police say the district attorney’s office will determine on Monday if charges will be filed.
