The annual bet between the mayors of Tuscaloosa and Auburn has been placed on this year’s Iron Bowl. WIAT-TV reports Tuscaloosa Mayor Walter Maddox and Auburn Mayor Bill Ham have raised the stakes for the friendly wager between the two towns.
In the event the Auburn Tigers can upset the defending national champs, Maddox will make a $100 donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Lee County. If the Tide can come away from Jordan-Hare Stadium and finish the regular season undefeated, Ham will donate $100 to the Tuscaloosa Pre-K Initiative.
According to the television station, the wagers have increased since last year when Mayor Ham made a $25 donation to Tuscaloosa’s Storm recovery Fund. Maddox reportedly said the decision to raise the stakes was made because they’re for such good causes.
