(WDNG) - The music has hit a sour note for one Anniston distributor of violins. The payment for an order of hundreds of instruments was unable to be processed and has reportedly lost the company more than $22,000. Anniston police Capt. Allen George on Thursday said an individual name Jaran Chong placed a total of three orders for violins from Anniston-based Howard Core Company beginning on Aug. 22.
The orders were reportedly charged to a Visa card and shipped to an address in Singapore, China. According to George, the company located on Symphony Way in McClellan received notification early last month that the $22,558 payment for a total of 500 violins could not be processed.
George said that local authorities obviously could not be sent to China to further investigate the alleged theft and that his department would contact federal partners to assist with the investigation.
Howard Core Co. could not be immediately reached for comment on Thursday.
