(WDNG) - The Alabama Department of Environmental Management this month named the Anniston Water Works and Sewer Board as an Area Wide Optimized water system.
According to a release from the Anniston Water Works Board, the Area Wide Optimization Program was started in 2003 by the United States EPA and ADEM to provide the best quality drinking water to the citizens of Alabama by optimizing existing infrastructure to the fullest extent possible with minimal cost to the participating utility.
The award was presented at ADEM’s 16th annual Surface Water Meeting in Montgomery on Oct. 21. Anniston Water has received the award since its inception a decade ago.
