(WDNG) - Anniston police on Saturday were investigating the theft of a 2007 Buick LaCrosse on the 300 block of Eden Hills Dr. in Saks. Anniston police Capt. Allen George on Monday said a 30-year-old woman called police and accused her ex-boyfriend of punching her repeatedly in the face.
The woman told police she and the man were driving around on Friday evening when the car reportedly ran out of gas at the Eden Hills Cemetery. She told police her ex-boyfriend then became angry and started punching her.
George said the woman managed to flee and ran to a nearby residence, where she called an area home for battered women. George said the shelter gave the woman a place to stay for the night.
When she returned to the cemetery around noon on Saturday, she reportedly told police that the vehicle was gone. George said the suspect has been identified and police reports indicate he faces felony first-degree theft charges and third-degree domestic violence charges.
