Anniston city leaders broke ground Thursday on a new assisted living facility at Fort McClellan. The $8.5 million facility will house 64 people. It will also have some independent-living units.
The building on the former army post property, once housed military officers in one and two bedroom units and will be completely remodeled and refurbished.
Phil Webb, with the McClellan Development Authority said, "We're taking down old buildings. We're going to be remodeling and even building new facilities out here. To do what? To bring jobs, to bring jobs to this facility, to this county, and to this region. We are excited about this, we cannot help but be excited."
This project is one of many underway by the McClellan Development Authority.
