Judge Billy Ogletree heard testimony from family members and friends of Victor Colton Allen today before passing sentence on the 22 year old Attalla man. Allen pled guilty before Ogletree on October 24, 2011 to charges of Sodomy in the First Degree and three counts of Sexual Abuse of a Child Less than 12 years of age.
After hearing the testimony and arguments of counsel, Judge Ogletree sentenced Allen to 30 years in the State penitentiary on the sodomy charge, and 20 years each, respectively on the sexual abuse counts. District Attorney Jimmie Harp stated that the only way to stop this type of tragic crime from taking place is to take the perpetrators off the street. Harp praised Ogletree's decision in handing down a severe sentence for the crimes, saying, "We are fortunate to have judges in this County who not only are aware of the problems our society faces with crimes against children, but who are willing to take a proactive stance against those crimes by imposing appropriate sentences."
