(WDNG) - Alabama’s EBT is back online after a technical glitch over the weekend. The state Department of Human Resources on Saturday said the Electronic Benefit Transfer system in Alabama and several other states had been interrupted. By Saturday afternoon, the vendor that handles the system had restored service and state officials said the temporary glitch wasn’t connected with the government shutdown in Washington.
AL.com reports the vendor, Xerox, also caused outages of similar systems in about 17 states were affected. Various news outlets in Georgia, Virginia, Ohio, Mississippi and Michigan reported similar outages.
According to the state Department of Human Resources, Alabamians bringing home less than $958 per month or families of three bringing home less than $1,600 are eligible for food assistance.
