(WDNG) - A woman is in the Oxford jail for drugs after her traveling partner dies from a gunshot wound. Oxford police on Thursday said 25-year-old Emily Nicole Hooker of Jefferson, Ga. was arrested after an incident at the Waffle House near Interstate Exit 188.
According to Lt. L.G. Owens with the Oxford Police Department, officers arrived shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday and found a 32-year-old man from Jackson, Miss. with a single gunshot wound to his abdomen. Owens said Hooker told police that her passenger was shot somewhere in Warner Robbins, GA.
The man was reportedly taken to Regional Medical Center in Anniston and Hooker was arrested and charged with trafficking meth and possession of a pistol without a permit.
The man reportedly died at 10:15 a.m. Thursday morning, and police are not releasing his name until family has been notified. Hooker is currently in the custody of Oxford police with bonds totalling $53,000 for the drugs and pistol.
Owens says police in Georgia are currently investigating a homicide in Warner Robbins that may be related to drug possession offenses in Oxford. Hooker is expected in court on Nov. 21.
