"I know what I saw it looked like a skull," Tony Brooks said. Brooks said what he saw wasn't an animal skull, and he strongly believes it was from a human.
"I saw the bottom of a skull teeth, I mean I could see part of the eyes, top plate, had one tooth missing, looked rather old… they said it might not be real, but who knows," Brooks said. Jefferson County Chief Sheriff's Deputy Randy Christian stated that around 1 p.m. today a woman was picking up cans along Mount Olive Road near Nail Road in Warrior. She then saw what she described as human bones on top of a pile of rubbish. She then called 9-1-1. Brooks lives 50 yards from the site and when he saw deputies he came outside to see what was going on. That's when he got a glance of the disturbing find. "I saw a man put it in a paper bag I assume he was the coroner. He left with it," Brooks said. Brooks said it all left him with an eerie feeling and wondering what the story is behind the bones. "It was laying right next to box..like a metal case," Brooks said. Brooks said he truly hopes he wrong about his assumption, but can't help wonder if it could be a missing person. "If it is someone missing I hope the family can get some closure," Brooks said. The bones will be tested and deputies should know soon whether they are animal or human.
